Water Removal from OilTo efficiently and effectively remove water from oil the preferred method involves a mass transfer by evaporation under vacuum (vacuum dehydration) which in effect lowers the boiling point of water. By employing this method, the free and dissolved water is removed without any adverse effects on the oil itself. Should a high temperature be employed to remove water, the oil "burns" which negatively affects the additive package. Should a high vacuum be employed to remove the water then the "lighter ends" of the oil can be removed. Ideally a moderate temperature and moderate vacuum result in a 100% free water removal and up to a 90% removal of dissolved water. |
